from 98 years ago.

Hermon MacNeil was
robbed, fleeced, pilfered
nearly a century ago, of his creative design for
Miss Liberty
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
And, Hermon may not have even known that !!!
I’ve been researching my “Uncle Hermon” for over 15 years, and
I never knew that.
In 1928 there was a culprit who decided to mint his message to the “reverse” of a duplicate of Hermon’s
1916 Standing Liberty Quarter.

The man named,
C. B. Cosgrove, seized, adopted, & usurped
Hermon MacNeil’s original design for the of 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter (SLQ)
and FORGED it as the obverse for this
air service token.

I picked this up at a recent local coin show. I have not seen one before.
It is larger than a normal quarter dollar. It appears to be made of silver, or at least silver plated.
27.5mm diameter, smooth edge, medal-turn alignment, 8.5 grams.I have just started researching it, but I have not found much of anything so far.
